معرفی
Professor Christoph Tang is a leading researcher in bacterial pathogenesis at the University of Oxford's Medical Sciences Division. Holding a professorship in Infectious Diseases since 2001 and based at the Dunn School since 2010, he combines clinical expertise in Infectious Diseases with fundamental research on human pathogens.
- Specializes in Neisseria and Shigella species
- Focuses on complement system evasion and virulence plasmid dynamics
- Develops novel vaccines and therapeutics
Research Interests:
- Decoding how pathogens colonize host niches
- Elucidating molecular mechanisms of immune evasion
- Designing structure-based vaccines
- Studying plasmid maintenance in drug-resistant bacteria
Publication Trends: Recent work emphasizes toxin-antitoxin systems in plasmid stability, oxygen-regulated virulence in Shigella, and complement evasion strategies in Neisseria. His group explores both fundamental pathogenic processes and translational applications.
Scientific Recognition:
- Fellow of American Society of Microbiology (2024)
- Recipient of MRC and Wellcome Trust funding
- Developing meningitis-B vaccines with Serum Institute of India
Training Legacy: Mentors 12 active researchers including PhD students and postdocs, maintaining a multidisciplinary team at the Oxford Pathology Department. His work bridges clinical medicine and molecular microbiology.
