معرفی
Christoph Sommer is a Full Professor and Chair of Networked Systems Modeling at the School of Engineering Sciences, TU Dresden. He holds a PhD (Dr.-Ing.) and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Prior to TU Dresden, he led the Cooperative Mobile Systems group at Paderborn University and held postdoctoral and visiting scholar positions at the University of Innsbruck, UCLA, and CMU.
Education:
- PhD in Engineering (Dr.-Ing., distinction) - University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (2011)
- M.Sc. in Computer Science (Dipl.-Inf. Univ.) - University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (2006)
Research Interests:
His research focuses on protocol and system designs for wirelessly connected mobile systems, particularly vehicular networks and simulative performance evaluation. He pioneered bidirectionally coupled network and road traffic simulation frameworks (e.g., Veins) and authored a leading textbook on vehicular networking. Current work includes 6G teleoperation, space-air-ground integrated networks, and smart mobility solutions.
Grants & Projects:
- RAILsilient: Rail-to-Orbit Communication for Future Mobility (2024)
- Smart Mobility Lab: Unveiled with Saxony’s Minister President (2024)
Labs & Teams:
Leads the Smart Mobility Lab at TU Dresden, exploring cutting-edge solutions in cooperative mobile systems and networked systems modeling. Active in teaching courses like Cooperative Mobile Systems and Network Simulation.
