Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Lutter, M.Sc. MHBA is a W2 Professor for Prevention of the Musculoskeletal System and Sports Orthopaedics at University Medicine Rostock. He serves as Head of the Sports Orthopaedics, Pediatric Orthopaedics and Technical Orthopaedics Section, as well as Head of Clinical Trials Office.
His educational background includes Human Medicine studies at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), a doctorate in medicine from FAU, a Master of Science in Sports Medicine, and a Master of Health Business Administration.
Dr. Lutter specializes in Sports Orthopaedics, Pediatric Orthopaedics, Technical Orthopaedics, and Musculoskeletal Prevention. His research interests span rock climbing injuries, wilderness medicine, knee surgery, and endoprosthetics. His work focuses on understanding injury mechanisms in sports, particularly in climbing and other adventure activities, as well as developing prevention and treatment strategies. His expertise bridges clinical practice with sports medicine and biomechanics.
His publications demonstrate expertise in areas such as delayed-onset muscle soreness, wrist and finger injuries in climbers, compartment syndrome of the foot, and cost analysis in shoulder surgery. His research combines clinical orthopaedics with sports medicine and biomechanics, with a particular emphasis on evidence-based approaches to diagnosis and treatment.
