Christoph Bauer

Christoph Bauer is a Professor of Entrepreneurship, Media, and Leadership at HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration, where he has been employed since 2009. Until January 2022, he served as Head of the Department Strategy & Leadership. He earned his doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Münster and possesses over 20 years of industry experience, including executive roles as CFO/COO at Bertelsmann and AOL Germany. He is the founder and managing partner of ePrivacy GmbH, specializing in data protection consulting and certification for digital businesses, and serves as an accredited data protection expert for the State Data Protection Center Kiel (ULD).

His research focuses on Online Marketing, Data Protection in Digital Media, Distressed M&A, Corporate Governance, and Entrepreneurship. He explores the intersection of technology, compliance, and business innovation, particularly in GDPR implementation, privacy-by-design frameworks, and ethical data usage.

An analysis of his publications reveals a shift from early work in financial risk modeling (1990s) to contemporary research on digital privacy, eHealth compliance, and regulatory strategies. His recent works emphasize practical solutions for data governance in IoT, AI, and programmatic advertising contexts.

Professor Bauer teaches courses including Finance, Strategic Management, Leadership, Negotiation Skills, and Innovation Management at master's and MBA levels. He actively advises digital enterprises on compliance and data security, and contributes to industry whitepapers and conferences on GDPR, cybersecurity, and health-tech innovations.
