Christoph Auffarth is a Full Professor of Christian History and Theology at the Department of Comparative Religion, University of Bremen. He has held visiting professorships at the Universities of Tübingen, Basel, Bern, Göttingen, and Dormition Abbey in Jerusalem as a DAAD Visiting Professor.

His research focuses on ancient Greco-Roman religions, medieval European religions, science-religion interactions in the 20th century, and the transformation of religion toward innerworldly eschatology. His Käte Hamburger Fellowship project examined the religion of the Third Reich.
