Christine Wieck

Prof. Dr. Christine Wieck leads the Institute of Agricultural Policy and Agricultural Market Research within the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Hohenheim. Her research program focuses on agricultural and food policy analysis, trade policy impacts, animal welfare economics, and sustainability in food systems.

Recent work includes competitiveness analysis of broiler production in West Africa, economic valuation of animal welfare standards, true cost accounting methodologies for food systems, and policy evaluations of the EU Common Agricultural Policy. Her geographic expertise spans European, Asian, and African agricultural systems, with projects in Bhutan, Namibia, Ghana, and Senegal.

Prof. Wieck's research employs diverse methodologies including econometric modeling, value chain analysis, cost-benefit frameworks, and stakeholder engagement approaches. She contributes to policy development through advisory roles, particularly regarding EU animal welfare legislation reforms and sustainable food system transitions.
