Dr. Christine Short serves as Associate Professor and Department Head/District Chief for the Department of Medicine at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Medicine and Nova Scotia Health Authority Central Zone since September 5, 2017, previously leading the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Education:
- MD from Dalhousie University
- Postgraduate training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Dalhousie University
- Fellowship from Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in 1999
Her research focuses on neurorehabilitation with primary emphasis on developing medications to improve mobility in multiple sclerosis, treatments for severe neuropathic pain, and spasticity management. She pioneers investigations into gender-specific challenges faced by women with MS and spinal cord injuries, aiming to enhance quality of life through functional improvement and pain reduction.

Dr. Short maintains clinical leadership through the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre, establishing specialized referral protocols and triage criteria for rehabilitation services while advancing women's health initiatives in neurorehabilitation contexts.
Her operational base spans the Bethune Building (Department of Medicine headquarters) and Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre, coordinating care across academic and clinical environments within the NSHA Central Zone.
