Christine Gerrard is a Professor of English Literature at the University of Oxford and Barbara Scott Fellow and Tutor in English at Lady Margaret Hall. Her research focuses on eighteenth-century political literature and women's writing of the long eighteenth century, with particular emphasis on Irish women's literary networks and memory studies. She is currently editing Jonathan Swift's The History of the Four Last Years of the Queen for CUP and exploring themes of memory and commemoration in female-authored works.
Her research projects include studies on Swift's circle, the role of women in Enlightenment discourse, and the intersection of memory and authorship. Recent publications analyze Dublin women's engagement with John Locke, Martha Fowke's tributes to Mary, Lady Chudleigh, and Laetitia Pilkington's mnemonic self-concept. Keynote presentations such as her 2017 talk on 'Memory and the Eighteenth-Century Female Poet' reflect her broader scholarly agenda.
