Dr. Engartner's research focuses on political education in vocational contexts, examining how professional training shapes political identity formation and democratic understanding. Her work bridges theoretical political science with practical educational applications, particularly in dual vocational training systems. She investigates how social science education can be integrated into professional contexts to foster democratic citizenship among vocational students. Her research methodology emphasizes qualitative-empirical approaches, often utilizing biographical research to understand political socialization processes.
Her publication record demonstrates a strong focus on migration policy, digitalization in politics, and political education. Recent work has increasingly addressed refugee integration and algorithm-based matching systems for distributing refugees to municipalities.
