Dr. Christine Elliott is an Associate Professor at Principia College, specializing in the Writing Center and English language education. She holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MA from the University of Hawaii-Manoa, and a BA from the University of Virginia. Her work focuses on second language acquisition, academic English, and literacy practices in multilingual contexts.
Her research emphasizes Lao education systems, particularly through her doctoral studies at Laos' National University and subsequent Fulbright Fellowship (2007-2008). She has taught English in Laos, Vietnam, and institutions like the University of Delaware’s English Language Institute.
Dr. Elliott’s academic contributions include co-editing the Journal of Lao Studies (2015) and presenting at conferences like the American Association for Applied Linguistics. Her research explores literacy as a social practice, multilingual student strategies, and less commonly taught languages.
She has received prestigious awards including the Boren Fellowship (2010) for international study and maintains active engagement in applied linguistics and language pedagogy.
