Christine Ekdahl Clementson is an Associate Professor at Lund University's Department of Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy Center. She serves as Research Team Manager for the Inflammation and Stemcell Therapy Group, Principal Investigator, and supervisor for doctoral candidates. Her academic roles include organizing the annual Neuroscience Day conference and leading translational neuroscience research initiatives.
Her research program focuses on:
- Novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for epilepsy with emphasis on neuroimmune interactions
- Connections between epilepsy, sleep disorders, and autism spectrum conditions
- Neuroimaging and molecular mechanisms of seizure disorders
- Translational approaches in neuroinflammation research
Her recent publications (2019-2024) demonstrate strong research output in epilepsy mechanisms, neuroimmunology, and experimental neurology, with consistent focus on biomarker discovery and neurotherapeutic interventions across multiple peer-reviewed journals.
Current doctoral supervision includes:
- Taylor, M. (Biomarkers for Epilepsy and Autism)
- Fredlund, F. (Immune responses in epilepsy and Parkinson's)
She leads active research projects funded through Lund University including:
- Prerequisities and outcome of inpatient care in children with autism (PI)
- Translational studies of immune responses in neurological disorders
