Christine Chiriac

Dr. Christine Chiriac is a researcher at the Georg-Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research, working in the department of Knowledge in Transition since November 2022. Her research focuses on religion-based anti-Semitism in educational media, memory practices, and historical learning in migration societies. She has led and contributed to projects including Christian Features of Contemporary Antisemitism, HiLMig (Histories in Motion), and HOLOGEN (Holocaust and Genocide in Contemporary Education).

• PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Göttingen
• Masters in Political Science from Leibniz University Hannover
• International Relations studies in Cluj, Romania

Her research explores tensions between societal pluralization and national closure in educational media production, particularly in history and religious education. Recent publications analyze Christian-Jewish relations in textbooks, migrationsgesellschaft representations, and colonial memory in education. She actively participates in academic networks like ASDEN and GERA, and serves as a staff representative on the GEI Board of Trustees.
