Christine Cherella is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and holds multiple clinical and administrative roles within the Division of Endocrinology at Boston Children’s Hospital. She serves as Assistant Clinical Chief for Productivity, Quality, Reliability, and Safety, and Associate Director of the Fellowship Program. Her clinical practice focuses on thyroid disorders, including thyroid cancer and nodules, and she contributes to the Thyroid Center’s multidisciplinary care initiatives.
Dr. Cherella’s education includes a BS from Harvard University (2007), MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (2012), and residencies in Pediatrics (2013–2015). She completed a Pediatric Endocrinology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital (2019). She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (General).
Her research interests emphasize pediatric thyroid disorders, particularly the safety and efficacy of diagnostic procedures (e.g., fine-needle aspiration) and surveillance strategies for thyroid cancer. She has published on consensus guidelines for multidisciplinary thyroid programs and the relationship between autoimmune thyroiditis and malignancy risk in children.
Dr. Cherella’s clinical sites include Boston Children’s Hospital’s main campus and the Waltham location. She actively participates in advancing clinical care through research, program development, and educational mentorship for fellows.
