Christine Cheng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, affiliated with the College of Engineering & Mathematical Sciences. She is on sabbatical during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.
- PhD in Mathematical Sciences from Johns Hopkins University (1999)
- MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University (1996)
- BS in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines (1994)
Her research focuses on the intersection of Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, particularly Stable Matchings, which have applications in medical residency placements, school assignments, and organ transplant logistics. She also explores Algorithm Design, Graph Algorithms, Combinatorial Optimization, Graph Theory, and Combinatorics.
Christine’s publications since 2007 highlight her work on stable matchings, graph theory, and algorithmic complexity, with contributions to poset-based models, median graphs, and computational methods for combinatorial optimization. Her research bridges theoretical insights with practical applications in computing and discrete mathematics.
She actively engages in community initiatives such as GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math and Science) and STEM outreach programs, promoting diversity and inclusion in technical fields.
