Christine Bergeron is a Clinical Professor and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts, Texas A&M University. She previously served as Director of Dance for 15 years before the college's establishment in 2022. Her academic journey includes a B.A. in Dance from the University of Akron, an MFA in Choreography and Performance from Florida State University, and current PhD studies in Dance Science at the University of Wolverhampton focusing on Pilates' impact on dance performance.
Her research interests span Dance Science (Pilates efficacy, injury prevention), Dance Education (performance's role in teaching human experience), and Dance and Technology (virtual/augmented reality integration). She is certified in Pilates Mat through advanced levels and teaches the DCED 222 course on Dance Science.
Collaborating with Carisa Armstrong since 2003 through Brazos Dance Collective, Bergeron's choreographic works explore historical events and identity, such as the Holocaust-themed 'But where there's hope, there's life,' presented globally and adapted into a dance film. Their current project examines U.S. immigration's impact on identity.
Awarded the National Dance Society's Master Educator and Educator of the Year (TAHPERD), she has also received TAHPERD's Honor Award and NDS Legacy Award for her research and choreography. Her projects include immersive dance theatre works in schools and museums, emphasizing accessibility and community engagement.
