Christina West

Dr. Christina West is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, University of Victoria, and a researcher with the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. She founded and leads the 'Expressive Arts Studio: Healing Children and Families through the Arts,' which develops interventions to alleviate emotional suffering from illness and trauma. Her work integrates expressive arts, family systems theory, and critical frameworks.

Her research focuses on adapting expressive arts methods like 'dialoguing with images' for psychosocial support in pediatric oncology. She has conducted systematic reviews on digital storytelling in health research and mindfulness-based arts interventions in cancer care. Dr. West also pioneered a four-year faculty-graduate mentorship program fostering communities of practice in qualitative inquiry.
