Christina Weiler is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Wayne State University’s Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, and Administrative Director in Residence at the Junior Year in Munich (JYM) program affiliated with Universität München e.V. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Purdue University (2017) and degrees from Freiburg University, including an M.A. in German, English, and Spanish Philology and a teaching certification. Her research explores 18th/19th-century German literature, environmentalism, and sensory philosophy, with notable works on Herder, Novalis, and Alexander von Humboldt. She has co-edited Memory in German Romanticism (2023) and published on topics ranging from ecofeminism to intertextuality in Romantic texts.
As an educator, Dr. Weiler emphasizes critical engagement with real-world issues and inclusive pedagogy. She previously served as German Language Program Director and Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and led the North Carolina Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German. Her teaching awards include multiple Purdue University recognitions and induction into the Purdue Teaching Academy.
Her professional contributions extend to grants like the PROMISE Award (Purdue, 2017) and international collaborations, such as her Erasmus semester in Spain and teaching internship in Dublin. She currently teaches German culture and internship courses at JYM while maintaining her academic research focus.
