Christina Thompson is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Honors College at the University of Texas at Dallas. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (2008) and a B.S. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University (2002). Her research focuses on designing ultra-low density materials, particularly covalent organic frameworks, for applications in energy storage and biomolecule stabilization. She collaborates with Ron Smaldone's lab to explore modular material design.
Thompson is actively involved in educational initiatives, including advising the First Generation in STEM student organization and leading the UT Dallas Apiary project, which provides hands-on beekeeping education for students. Her work bridges traditional chemistry research with innovative teaching methods, such as integrating video games into science education.
Her recent research highlights include studies on supramolecular design principles for 2D covalent organic frameworks and investigations into pesticide monitoring in marine environments. She has published extensively on topics ranging from porous polymer synthesis to 3D printing material improvements.
