Professor Christina Liossi is a Professor of Paediatric Psychology at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Department of Psychology. She holds an Honorary Consultant Paediatric Psychologist role at Great Ormond Street Hospital's Paediatric Chronic Pain Clinic. Her research focuses on pediatric pain management, cognitive-affective pain modulation, and evidence-based interventions for chronic illnesses.
Her work bridges clinical practice and research, emphasizing family-centered care and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Key areas include procedural pain management in children with cancer, hypnosis efficacy, and neurobehavioral outcomes post-traumatic brain injury. She has contributed to national/international pain management guidelines and authored a seminal book on pediatric cancer pain.
Publications span 2006-2007, addressing procedural pain interventions, hypnosis applications, neuropsychological assessments, and pediatric chronic pain mechanisms. Current supervision includes Philippa Katherine Broadbent (PhD Psychology).
External roles include membership in the Medicines for Children Research Network’s Pain and Palliative Care group. She actively mentors doctoral students and early-career researchers in paediatric pain research and clinical translation.
