Christina Lienstromberg is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Differential Equations at the University of Stuttgart. Her research focuses on applied analysis, partial differential equations (PDEs), and fluid dynamics, with a particular emphasis on non-Newtonian fluids, free-boundary value problems, and data-driven approaches. She investigates phenomena such as rimming flows, thin-film dynamics, and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), combining rigorous mathematical analysis with applications in engineering and physics.
Research Areas: Applied Analysis, Nonlinear PDEs, Fluid Dynamics, MEMS Modeling, Data-driven Methods. Her work bridges theoretical results with practical applications, addressing challenges in rheology, stability, and long-time behavior of fluid systems.
Key Contributions: Lienstromberg has explored multi-parameter Hopf bifurcations in rimming flows, developed data-driven frameworks for viscous fluid mechanics, and analyzed the stability of degenerate thin-film equations. Her studies on MEMS systems highlight finite-time singularities and well-posedness under varying permittivity conditions.
Grants & Projects: Principal Investigator of DFG Project 'Instability Phenomena in Asymptotic Models in Fluid Dynamics' and SimTech Project 'A Data-Driven Approach to Viscous Fluid Dynamics'. Collaborates internationally through initiatives like the Stuttgart-Lund Joint Research Seminar on Fluid Dynamics.
Teaching & Mentorship: Teaches advanced courses on PDEs and mathematical modeling. Supervises PhD students (Juri Joussen, Espen Xylander) and master’s students in fluid dynamics and applied analysis.
