Christina Johnston is a Professor in the Education Studies (EDST) department at Middlebury College. She teaches courses such as Educational Psychology, Models of Inclusive Education, and Elementary Literacy & Social Studies. Her work focuses on fostering equitable teaching practices, inclusive education frameworks, and curriculum development across K-12 settings. She oversees student teaching practicums and seminars designed to prepare future educators through hands-on classroom experiences and portfolio development aligned with Vermont licensure standards.
Her courses emphasize DisCrit (Disability Studies and Critical Race Theory), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and antiracist pedagogy. She integrates arts-based methods and scientific inquiry into elementary education, while addressing systemic barriers in special education and diverse classrooms. She regularly teaches seminars on classroom management, assessment strategies, and technology integration in education.
