معرفی
Christina Harvey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Davis. She leads the Biologically Informed Research and Design (BIRD) lab, focusing on biological flight mechanisms and their application to UAV design. Her work integrates aerodynamics, biomechanics, and engineering to study how animals adapt morphology during flight, aiming to improve aircraft adaptability and maneuverability.
Educational Background:
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, University of Michigan
- M.Sc. in Zoology, University of British Columbia
- B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautical Concentration), McGill University
Research Interests: Dr. Harvey investigates avian flight dynamics, morphing wing technologies, and bio-inspired UAV design. Her studies use wind tunnel experiments, computational modeling, and anatomical analysis to bridge gaps between biological flight principles and engineering applications. Key themes include flight stability, energy efficiency, and adaptive control systems.
Awards:
- 2023 Packard Fellow
- 2021 Amelia Earhart Fellow
Labs & Teams: The BIRD Lab collaborates across disciplines to advance UAV innovation. Current projects explore gull-inspired wing morphing, gust rejection algorithms, and avian-inspired sensor systems. Dr. Harvey also contributes to the Bird Flight Research Center at UC Davis.
