Christina Fuhrmann serves as Professor of Music History & Literature and Chair of the Academic Studies Department at Baldwin Wallace University, with prior teaching roles at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and Ashland University.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.A. from Marlboro College.
Dr. Fuhrmann specializes in musicological research with emphasis on opera performance history, particularly examining foreign opera productions in 19th-century London. Her scholarly work spans British musical theatre, Romantic-era music, and editorial musicology, published in leading venues including The Oxford Handbook of the British Musical and Nineteenth-Century Music Review.
Her major publications include the award-winning monograph Foreign Opera at the London Playhouses, from Mozart to Bellini (Cambridge University Press, 2015) and critical editions of historical operatic works.
She has received significant recognition:
- Diana McVeagh Prize for Best Book on British Music (awarded by North American British Music Studies Association)
- Taylor Excellence in Teaching Award from Ashland University (2015)
Dr. Fuhrmann currently edits BACH: Journal of the Riemenschneider Bach Institute and previously served as managing editor of Journal of Musicology, demonstrating sustained contributions to academic publishing in musicology.
