Christina Fredengren

Christina Fredengren is a Professor at the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies, Stockholm University. She leads research in archaeology, heritage studies, and environmental humanities, with a focus on wetland depositions, water-related rituals, and feminist posthumanism. Her work examines sacrificial practices in the Bronze and Iron Ages, museum ecologies, and temporal justice in heritage management. Fredengren co-leads projects like 'Checking in with Deep Time' and 'Curating Time,' exploring intergenerational ethics and non-anthropocentric heritage frameworks. She supervises doctoral students in environmental humanities and critical heritage studies.

Research networks include the Stockholm University Environmental Humanities Network, the Posthumanities Hub, and the Edinburgh Environmental Humanities Network. Key publications address bog bodies, water agency, and material entanglements in archaeology. Her teaching includes the Doctoral School in Environmental Humanities and courses on climate change solutions.
