Christina Conroy, PhD, serves as an Associate Professor of Christian Theology at Ambrose University with a cross-appointment in Humanities. Based in Alberta's foothills, her academic work critically engages Canada's residential school legacy and Indigenous-settler reconciliation through theological frameworks rooted in Saskatchewan's prairie landscape.
Her educational credentials include a PhD from Emory University, STM from Yale Divinity School, MDiv from Canadian Theological Seminary, and BBS from Canadian Bible College. This multidisciplinary foundation enables her innovative integration of theological scholarship with contemporary scientific insights.
Dr. Conroy's research pioneers intersections between contemplative theology, neuroscience, and epigenetics to address intergenerational trauma, while advancing Indigenous-settler climate collaborations. Current projects include a monograph on ecclesial responses to residential schools and collaborative recommendations preventing spiritual violence in church practices. Her signature courses—Residential Schools and Christian Theology (REL 372), Trauma and Theology (TH 627), and Contemplative Theologians (TH 630)—reflect this applied scholarship.
Her publications from 2015-2021 demonstrate consistent decolonizing praxis through land theology, biblical reinterpretation, and Indigenous spiritual frameworks. Key trajectories include reconciling Christian doctrine with TRC imperatives, reimagining scripture through decolonial lenses, and centering Grasslands spirituality in ecological theology—establishing her as a critical voice in Canadian theological discourse.
