Christina Bohannan is a Professor of Law and Lauridsen Family Fellow in Law at the University of Iowa College of Law. Her expertise spans Intellectual Property Law, Copyright Law, First Amendment, Antitrust/Competition Law, Torts, and Conflict of Laws. She holds a BS (1994) and JD (1997) from the University of Florida.
Her research focuses on integrating intellectual property and competition law to foster innovation. Notable works include Creation without Restraint: Promoting Liberty and Rivalry in Innovation (Oxford UP, 2012), co-authored with Herbert Hovenkamp, supported by a Kauffman Foundation grant. Her article Copyright Preemption of Contracts was featured in the Maryland Law Review and the Stanford/Yale Junior Faculty Forum (2005).
Her scholarship emphasizes balancing legal frameworks to promote innovation and free expression. Awards include the ABA Mark T. Banner Award (2013) and a University of Iowa teaching award (2010).
Bohannan’s work intersects doctrinal analysis with interdisciplinary perspectives, addressing tensions between intellectual property rights and competitive markets.
