Christina Bermeitinger is a Professor (W2) and Chair of General Psychology at the University of Hildesheim's Institute of Psychology, within the Faculty of Educational and Social Sciences. Since October 2023, she has served as Vice President for Research and Scientists in the Qualification Phase. Previously, she was Dean of Faculty 1 (2019-2023) and chaired the Institute of Psychology (2017-2019).
Her research focuses on cognitive psychology with specialization in:
- Olfactory processing and memory interactions
- Motion perception and response priming
- Spatial representation and compatibility effects
- Attention mechanisms (temporal/spatial) and consciousness
- Emotion-cognition interactions and subliminal processing
Bermeitinger's publications demonstrate consistent focus on experimental psychology methodologies applied to sensory-cognitive interactions. Recent work (2020-2025) shows strong emphasis on olfactory memory paradigms, cross-cultural attention studies, and meta-scientific contributions. Her articles frequently appear in specialized cognitive psychology journals and integrate neuroscientific frameworks.
She has secured significant research funding including DFG projects on olfactory associative memory (>€250,000) and digital learning initiatives. Leads the General Psychology laboratory investigating cognitive processing through behavioral experiments.
