Christian Schmidt

Dr. Christian Schmidt is a Researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in the Department of Hydrogeology under the Water Resources and Environment unit. His work focuses on solute transport in stream-groundwater systems, microplastic pollution, and hyporheic zone dynamics. He holds a PhD from the University of Neuchâtel (2009) and has been at UFZ since 2008. Notable contributions include studies on global riverine plastic emissions and harmonized monitoring strategies for plastic pollution.
