Christian Saemann is a Professor of Mathematical Physics at Heriot-Watt University's School of Mathematical & Computer Sciences, specializing in the Mathematics department. He holds a PhD and has held academic positions since 2011, advancing to full professor in 2019. His research focuses on Mathematical Physics, particularly String/M-Theory, Quantum Field Theory, Homotopy Algebras, and Differential Geometry. He has contributed to over 90 publications since 2002.
Education: PhD (2006), studies in Würzburg, Austin, Paris, and Hanover. Career highlights include postdoctoral roles at Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and Trinity College Dublin.
Research interests span advanced theoretical frameworks such as higher gauge theory, noncommutative geometry, and classical integrability. His work often intersects with algebraic structures like L∞-algebras and category theory. Recent studies include tensor products of metric BV-algebras and adjusted connections in principal bundles.
Awards: 2019 Heriot-Watt Teaching Excellence Award. His articles explore topics like double copy formalisms, twistor spaces, and topological classifications in gauge theories. He collaborates extensively on projects linking field theories with geometric and algebraic methods.
