Christian Rytka

Prof. Dr. Christian Rytka is a Professor and Group Leader for Plastics Processing and Sustainability at the Institute of Polymer Technology within the School of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Applied Sciences for Engineering and the Environment FHNW. He also serves as Head of the MAS Plastics Engineering program. Dr. Rytka leads research initiatives focused on sustainable polymer applications and advanced manufacturing techniques.

Dr. Rytka's research spans polymer processing technology, sustainability initiatives including recycling and biopolymers, replication of micro- and nanostructures through injection molding, composite technology, and additive manufacturing with new plastics. His work has significant applications in medical diagnostics, environmental sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. His team is currently developing a microfluidic analyzer for mobile blood sample testing that could revolutionize disease detection in resource-limited settings.

His recent publications demonstrate expertise in sustainable materials processing, with emphasis on recycling technologies, natural fiber composites, and advanced manufacturing techniques. The research shows a clear trajectory toward environmentally responsible polymer applications while maintaining technical performance requirements across various industries including healthcare, automotive, and aerospace.

Dr. Rytka actively participates in the NTN Innovation Booster Applied Circular Sustainability consortium and leads multiple research projects including recycling of mixed plastics, development of products from plastic recyclates, natural fiber composites, 3D printing with nanocomposites, and digitalization in plastics processing.
