Christian Oggolder

Christian Oggolder is a historian and communication scholar at the Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies (CMC), jointly affiliated with the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Klagenfurt. Since 2013, he has focused on media change, media history, and media literacy through a transdisciplinary lens combining historical and contemporary perspectives.

His research explores media change from diachronic and synchronic angles, analyzing historical media developments and their intersection with digital transformations. He leads projects like Practices of media change and contributed to the Horizon 2020 MEDIADELCOM initiative, examining European media landscapes. Key publications include co-edited volumes on Austrian media history and articles on digital media, audience studies, and historical communication.
