Osnabrück University of Applied Sciencesمعرفی
Prof. Dr. Christian Neubauer is a Professor of Phytomedicine in Horticulture at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Landscape Architecture at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. He specializes in plant pathology and integrated pest management, with a focus on fungal and bacterial diseases in horticultural crops. His research emphasizes Verticillium wilt in berry crops and ornamental plants, soil testing for pathogen detection, and biological control strategies.
Education: Born in 1962, he studied agricultural sciences at TU Munich (Freising-Weihenstephan), completing his PhD in 1994 on Cylindrocladium infections in Erica species. He worked at the LWK Weser-Ems Plant Protection Office before joining the university in 2003. He leads the Phytomedicine department, collaborating with industry and public institutions to develop sustainable agricultural solutions.
Research: His work addresses practical challenges in horticulture, including Verticillium management, disease epidemiology, and biofumigation. Notable projects include soil testing protocols for Verticillium detection and deciphering pathogen-host interactions in berry crops. His lab facilities include microscopy suites, climate chambers, and sterile workspaces for microbial studies.
Teaching: He teaches modules on plant pathology, disease management, and soil health in horticulture programs, including the Master’s in Agrarian and Food Economics. His courses help students earn pesticide certification qualifications.
