Christian Krijnen (born 1965) is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He specializes in Ancient, Patristic and Medieval Philosophy with a particular focus on German Idealism, Neo-Kantianism, and contemporary transcendental philosophy. Krijnen has held various academic positions including research assistant at University of Siegen and visiting professorships at Tilburg University, University of Katowice, University of Bochum, and several other European and Latin American institutions.
His research interests span Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, Moral Philosophy, Philosophy of Right, Social Philosophy, Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy of Culture, and Philosophy of Economics. Krijnen's work critically engages with Kant, Hegel, Neo-Kantianism, and contemporary transcendental philosophy, examining the relationship between different philosophical traditions and their implications for understanding freedom, culture, and systematic thought.
