Prof. Dr. Christian Imdorf is a Professor at Leibniz University Hannover's Institute of Sociology (Philosophical Faculty) and holds a part-time position. He simultaneously serves as ProSkills2Work ERA Chair Holder at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. His academic journey includes a PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Fribourg (2005), postdoctoral research at Goethe University Frankfurt, and professorships at the Universities of Basel, Bern, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Imdorf's research examines education systems through sociological lenses, with core interests in:
- Gender segregation mechanisms in educational pathways
- Vocational education and school-to-work transitions
- Social inequality reproduction in educational organizations
- Comparative analysis of European labor market integration
- Education-employment linkages in Southeast Europe
He currently leads major EU Horizon projects including PROSKILLS2WORK (2025-2030) and PATHS2INCLUDE (2023-2026), focusing on skills development and inclusive labor markets. While supervising student theses at Leibniz Hannover, his capacity is currently limited due to part-time status.
