معرفی
Christian Griesinger is a Professor and Director of the Department of NMR-based Structural Biology at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen, Germany. He also serves as an Honorary Professor at the University of Göttingen's Department of Physical Chemistry. His research focuses on developing NMR methods to study biomolecular structure and dynamics, with applications to neurodegenerative diseases, membrane proteins, and drug-target interactions.
Education: PhD in Chemistry from the University of Frankfurt (1986), postdoctoral training at ETH Zurich (1986–1989), Full Professor at Frankfurt University (1990–2000), and Director at the Max Planck Institute since 1999. Key awards include the Leibniz Prize (1998) and Otto Bayer Prize (2003).
Research interests span NMR method development, structural biology of proteins/nucleic acids, and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms. His lab investigates phase separation in biomolecules, lipid fibrils, and amyloid pathology using interdisciplinary approaches combining NMR, X-ray crystallography, and chemical synthesis.
Publications highlight advancements in NMR instrumentation, drug candidate characterization (e.g., anle138b), and biomolecular condensates. Collaborations involve institutions like the University Medical Center Göttingen and FAccTs GmbH. Technical expertise includes solid-state NMR and high-resolution structural analysis.
- Awards: Leibniz Prize (1998), Otto Bayer Prize (2003)
- Grants: Young Investigator Grant (1989), DFG funding
Labs/Teams: Leads the NMR-based Structural Biology Department and collaborates with groups in computational biology (e.g., Markus Zweckstetter's team) and drug development.
