Christian Blum

Christian Blum is an Associate Professor at the MESA+ Institute, Department of Nanobiophysics. His research focuses on protein biochemistry, particularly α-synuclein aggregation mechanisms, nanoplastics quantification, and photonic applications in biological systems. He has contributed to understanding amyloid formation pathways and viral protein interactions. He received the STW Grant in 2011 for super-resolution microscopy work.

Research interests include: protein aggregation, nanoplastics detection, fluorescence spectroscopy, and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms. His work bridges nanobiophysics with clinical applications, using single-molecule techniques and advanced microscopy.
