Christian Bick

Christian Bick is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science, Mathematics Department of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Hans Fischer Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS) since 2019. He has held faculty positions at the University of Oxford (2016–2017) and the University of Exeter (2018–2020).

Christian Bick’s research focuses on dynamical systems and their applications, particularly in coupled oscillator networks, asynchronous networks, and higher-order network interactions. His work explores synchronization phenomena, symmetry breaking, and collective dynamics in complex systems.

His recent publications analyze frequency synchronization, hypergraph modeling, and abrupt synchronization transitions. Key themes include network dynamics, nonpairwise interactions, and invariant set theory. Awards include the Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship (2015), DAAD Doktorandenstipendien (2010, 2012), and Fulbright Program support (2008).
