Christian Bergeron

Christian Bergeron is a Part Time Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Ottawa, and an Adjunct Professor at the École interdisciplinaire des sciences de la santé of the same university. He is also a Part Time Professor at the Faculté des sciences humaines et de philosophie, Université Saint-Paul. Additionally, he serves as an expert evaluator and rapporteur for the European Commission (Brussels) in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships program. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Université Laval (2013), where his doctoral studies were part of an international collaboration (CEVI) with the University of Geneva. He completed a research internship at the World Health Organization (Geneva) and has over ten years of experience in the Canadian health network.

His research encompasses sociolinguistics, sociology, and education, with key interests including:

• Francophone linguistics and discrimination
• Language ideologies and minority experiences
• Intercultural relationships and social inequality
• Indigenous studies and gender dynamics
• Educational access and plurilingualism

Since 2019, he has led a research project funded by the University of Ottawa's Academic and Professional Development Fund (Fonds de développement académique et professionnel), titled: "Parcours en français et discriminations chez les étudiant.e.s. Une comparaison internationale entre le Canada (Ontario) et la France (Bretagne, Provence, La Réunion)". Collaborators include researchers from Université Rennes 2 and Université de La Réunion.

He has authored or co-authored over sixty publications and conference presentations.
