Christian Beneš is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Brooklyn College, City University of New York (CUNY). He joined Brooklyn College in 2007 after serving as an Assistant Professor at Tufts University. His doctoral research was conducted at Duke University, Cornell University, and the Institut Mittag-Leffler in Sweden.
Research Interests: Beneš specializes in probability theory, particularly planar models such as random walks, Schramm-Loewner evolution (SLE), and discrete Green’s functions. His work bridges stochastic processes, mathematical physics, and statistical mechanics, with applications to both theoretical and applied problems like functional brain imaging.
Teaching & Service: He teaches advanced courses such as Probability Theory (Math 83100) and Time Series Analysis (Math 4506). His pedagogical materials include lecture notes, homework assignments, and R programming tutorials. He has also organized academic events like the CUNY Math Challenge.
