Christian Beer

Prof. Dr. Christian Beer is a Professor for Dynamics of Soil Processes and Managing Director of the Institute of Soil Science at the University of Hamburg. His research focuses on global carbon-climate interactions, permafrost ecosystems, and soil biogeochemical processes. He leads the Working Group on Dynamics of Soil Processes and serves as Head of the M.Sc. Integrated Climate System Sciences programme.

Publication Trends: Recent articles (2022-2025) predominantly address permafrost carbon dynamics, climate feedback mechanisms, nitrogen cycling in Arctic soils, and modeling of terrestrial ecosystem processes under warming scenarios.
