Christian Bachem

Christian Bachem is a Researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Wageningen University & Research, focusing on plant genetics and genomics. His work centers on understanding the genetic basis of agronomic traits in crops like potato, including tuber development, stress responses, and genetic diversity. He has led and contributed to projects such as the Accelerated Development of multiple-stress tolerant PoTato (ADAPT) and the genomic basis of modern potato cultivars. Bachem has supervised multiple PhD candidates, including studies on self-compatibility, tuber traits, and genome-wide association studies.

His research integrates multi-omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics) to uncover mechanisms underlying plant adaptation.
