Dr. Christian Andres is a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist at ETH Zurich's Department of Environmental Systems Science, focusing on sustainable cocoa production systems. He holds a PhD from ETH Zurich (2015-2018) and has extensive experience in organic agriculture research, including a decade at the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL). His work emphasizes tropical agroforestry, organic farming practices, and participatory research methodologies.
Education includes a Humanitarian MBA from the Roxbourg Institute of Social Entrepreneurship (2021), a Master's in Agro-Ecosystem Sciences (ETH Zurich, 2009-2011), and a Bachelor's in Agricultural Sciences (ETH Zurich, 2005-2009). His research spans cocoa swollen shoot virus disease mitigation, soil fertility management, and dynamic agroforestry systems in Ghana and Bolivia.
Andres founded OPC (Obrobibini Peace Complex) in Ghana, advancing sustainable social enterprises and circular economy initiatives. His research highlights the economic and ecological benefits of agroforestry over monocultures, particularly in cocoa production.
