Christian A. Tryon

Christian A. Tryon is a Professor and Department Head in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Connecticut. He holds affiliations with institutions like the Smithsonian Institution’s Human Origins Program and Harvard University’s Department of Anthropology. With degrees from UConn (BA 1996, MA 2000, PhD 2003), he has held faculty positions at George Washington University, NYU, and Harvard. His research focuses on human evolution archaeology, stone tool analysis, volcanic tephrochronology, and museum collections. He specializes in East African and Mediterranean sites, exploring behavioral changes and environmental contexts of early Homo sapiens.
