Christa Sato is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the University of Northern British Columbia, currently completing her PhD at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. Her research employs a decolonial Pinayist (Filipina feminist) lens to examine Filipino/a/x diasporic experiences of intergenerational trauma, resistance, and healing in Canada. With over a decade of experience working with immigrant and racialized populations, she specializes in mental health stigma, intimate partner violence, and child welfare interventions.

Her research integrates community-based methodologies with interdisciplinary intervention frameworks, focusing on trauma narratives in marginalized communities. Recent work explores emotional labor in archival practices and systemic barriers faced by Black youth-in-care, reflecting her commitment to equity-driven scholarship.
Christa's publications span community mental health, intimate partner violence, and archival trauma studies. She co-edited the 2018 volume Racism and anti-racism in Canada and has contributed to journals on topics from Filipino-Canadian men's mental health stigma to pandemic-related workplace violence against public health workers.
