Chris Morrison is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at Monash University and an Assistant Professor at Columbia University since 2018. He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from Monash University (2016), focusing on macrosocial determinants of alcohol-related trauma in lower-income populations. His research spans spatial epidemiology, substance use disorders, injury prevention, and public health policy.
Major projects include leading the 2014 Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) study on alcohol outlet typologies and their economic impacts. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being (SDG 3), sustainable cities (SDG 11), and reduced inequalities (SDG 10).
Recent publications address gun violence mitigation, tobacco retail policy equity, and spatiotemporal analysis of polysubstance use. He actively supervises PhD students through Monash University's Medicine Research program.
