Chris Millora is a Visiting Professor at the University of East Anglia's School of Education & Lifelong Learning, where he leads the Leverhulme Trust-funded project 'Literacies of Dissent: learning, youth activism and social change.' His research focuses on adult literacies, international development, and marginalized communities' participation in volunteering and activism, particularly in Global South contexts. He holds a PhD in Education and International Development from UEA and an Erasmus Mundus MA in Lifelong Learning from institutions including UCL. Key roles include Chair of the British Association for Literacy in Development (BALID) and Lead Researcher for the UNV State of the World's Volunteerism Report 2022.
His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Global Education, Development Studies, and Gender Inclusion. Research methods include ethnographic and participatory approaches. He has advised on projects in the Philippines, Ethiopia, and Nepal, and contributed to policy solutions for sustainable development in Global South communities through collaborative transdisciplinary work.
Millora has published widely on volunteering, literacies, and youth activism, with works appearing in journals like Community Development Journal and Educational Action Research. His 2020 SSF Prize for Public Engagement recognizes his outreach efforts.
