Dr. Chris Matocha is an Associate Professor in the Natural Resources and Environmental Science department at the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky. He plays a key role in undergraduate education as the Director of Undergraduate Studies and teaches foundational courses such as Fundamentals of Soil Science (PLS 366), Soil Chemistry (PLS 671), and Clay Mineralogy (EES/PLS 741).

Dr. Matocha’s research focuses on the interplay between reactive nitrogen cycles and soil minerals like iron and manganese, particularly under nitrogen fertilization in no-till systems. He also collaborates with the Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment to utilize the Gluck Rain Garden as an outdoor laboratory for both teaching and research initiatives.
