Chris Hruska is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, affiliated with the College of Letters & Science. His research focuses on geometric group theory, topology, and hyperbolic structures.
He holds a PhD from Cornell University (2002) and dual BS degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Maryland (1995). He completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Chicago and as an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow (2002-2006).
His research explores packing in hyperbolic groups, commensurability invariants, and finiteness properties in geometric topology. He co-organizes the Annual Marden Lecture and serves as Principal Investigator for NSF grants on nonpositive curvature.
Service includes chairing the Mathematical Sciences Colloquium Committee and organizing the 2008 Spring Topology Conference.
