Chris Heslinga is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of the Law Centre at the University of Victoria's Faculty of Law. He holds over 8 years of experience with the University of British Columbia's Law Students' Legal Advice Program, where he supervised civil files and taught the Law 491 course (LSLAP for Credit) from 2016 to 2023. He also served as a supervising lawyer at UBC's Indigenous Community Legal Clinic (2019–2022) and Acting Academic Director for two semesters in 2021. He represents clients at Mental Health Review Board hearings since 2017 and is a roster member of the Community Legal Assistance Society.
Education: BA (Hons) Psychology from the University of Western Ontario (2009), JD from the University of British Columbia (2012).
Professional Affiliations: Vice-President of the Association of Canadian Clinical Legal Educators (ACCLE), incoming President of ACCLE, and volunteer with the Access Pro Bono Society (Mental Health Law Program, Family Law Project). He has also provided training at the Law Foundation of British Columbia's Advocate Training Conference.
