Chris Henschke is a Lecturer and researcher in the School of Design at RMIT University, Australia. He holds a PhD and teaches in the Master of Design Innovation and Technology program. His research intersects art, high-energy physics, and transdisciplinary practice, with a focus on sound, light, and digital/analogue media. Notably, he completed a 2-month CERN fellowship (2024) supported by the Australian Network for Art & Technology (ANAT), exploring sonic manifestations of particle physics phenomena. His work bridges art and science, interrogating concepts like quantum superposition, accelerator physics, and speculative design.
- Research Focus: Art-science collaboration, quantum physics aesthetics, experimental sound design, and the philosophy of scientific instrumentation.
- Key Projects: Sonic activations of abandoned CERN magnets, mycelium-nuclear decay experiments, and dark matter sonification performances.
Recent outputs include live performances at CMS detectors and exhibitions like Barcelona Design Week's 'Mycocosm,' showcasing works derived from CERN fieldwork. He actively engages with theoretical frameworks like accelerationism and the 'many-worlds' interpretation of quantum mechanics.
